Dumb and dumber: 7 absurd collectible NTFs that people actually pay money for

A short introduction to NFT and blockchain (you can scroll through)

What is an NFT? The abbreviation NFT (non-fungible tokens) means non-interchangeable token. They exist in the blockchain. And this, in turn, is a database that is stored simultaneously on a massive number of computers and has no single central node (unlike the traditional Internet, where there are servers or providers). In a blockchain system, all the devices simultaneously store all the information published there.

Tokens are a registered entry within this blockchain. The distinctive feature of most tokens is the principle of interchangeability. For example, one bitcoin can always be replaced with another bitcoin belonging to other users. But in the case of drawings, real estate, or muse, they cannot be exchanged for other works. They are unique. And that is what an NFT is all about. In essence, it is a digital certificate attached to an individual object. And a person buys that certificate of ownership (in straightforward terms).

NFTs can be almost anything (which does not violate the law) — music, images, text, video, 3D models, in-game objects, etc.

Pictures (moving and static) have become especially popular as NFTs. And they buy and sell, earning good money, digital objects that get a lot of publicity (whether through advertising or hype). And sometimes, in the pursuit of hype, creators and marketers of such projects go too far. The idea of the pictures can be as stupid or even repulsive as possible. But these NFTs are still bought.

Let’s grow together!

This is why many people argue about whether or not NFT pictures are art. Some say yes because the demand shows which directions people are interested in. Others think they are pure investment objects and have nothing to do with art.

And some NFTs and collections can even shock unprepared minds in sheer absurdity for the sake of hype and price increase. They may be ugly, but they make investors rich.

CryptoDickbutts

Yes, they look exactly as they sound. And people pay a lot of money for them. CryptoDickbutts’ daily trading volume on OpenSea’s Ethereum blockchain rose 790% on Aug. 8 to 907 ETH (approximately $1.6 million). Dickbutts thus climbed to No. 1 in the day’s rankings, ahead of such well-known projects as Webaverse Genesis Pass, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and CryptoPunks. Volume was up to 389% in the last week.

Poop topics are always on trend (we wonder why)

ShitBeast

Shit has been afloat (literally and for a long time). One of the popular NFT collections is called ShitBeast. ShitBeasts resemble dragons (or some other animals), whose portraits are full of various fecal-themed paraphernalia. The bottom price of this collection of 10,000 NFTs is 0.056 ETH ($101), and the market capitalization has reached 560 ETH (over a million dollars).

I will poop it NFT

I will poop it NFT price today is $7.47e-8 USD with a 24-hour trading volume of $1 589 803 USD. I will poop it NFT is down 17,69% in the last 24 hours. I will poop it NFT (SHIT) operates on the Ethereum platform.

Pixelverse Poops

This is a collection of 6,724 NFTs stored on the Ethereum blockchain. The current minimum price per NFT Pixelverse Poops is 0.19 ETH or $341.79. Total sales of Pixelverse Poops is 976 ETH – $1,755,170.80 with 1,544 owners.

ShitPlunger

The collection consists of 2,204 NFTs on Ethereum. Shit Plunger motto: ” Your NFT is just a piece of shit. Shit on your ‘bluechip’ NFT or whatever JPG you are holding. You are NGMI and yes we are selling shit Created by SHITLAB.”

Shitz

The Shitz are a species of Homo feceans that comprise a complex society of 4,444 shitizen of different kinds (project runs on Solana blockchain). Each shitizen is unique and represents a different character in Shitzville which exists on the Solana blockchain. As part of TheShitz NFT project, the creators, when selling 10% of the NFT, promised to donate the money to start a Shitz meme generator site. At 25% sales, donate 10% of all sales to gastrointestinal disease charities. And if half of the collection sells out, start their own shop.

Ugly is the new fancy

Ugly People

Some creators aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel and are explicit about creating the nastiest NFT pictures possible. That’s how the Ugly People collection came to be, with 10,000 images. I wonder what their creators have been using (if you know what I mean)?

Why do people create such freaky NFTs, why do they buy them, and why are they going up in price? So many questions and so few answers. However, it is a fact: gross images are trending, and they’re making a lot of money. Creators are going deeper and deeper into the theme of crazy stuff, creating collections about abortion, genitals, and anuses (and other NFT collections that are hard to call art).
